End-of-Life Doula
Overview:
We are seeking compassionate Death Doulas to provide non-medical, emotional, and practical support to individuals nearing the end of life and their families. The Doulas will guide clients through this transition with empathy, offering comfort, companionship, and advocacy to honor the patient’s wishes and ensure peace during their final moments.
Responsibilities:
Emotional & Spiritual Support: Offer emotional, spiritual, and social support to patients and caregivers before, during, and after death.
Collaborative Care: Work alongside caregivers, hospice staff, and other members of the care team to ensure a seamless and supportive experience.
Logistical Assistance: Assist with end-of-life planning, funeral arrangements, and organizing household tasks such as errands, pet care, and meal prep.
Legacy & Life Review: Help clients create meaningful legacies and organize important post-death information.
Education & Advocacy: Offer education to loved ones on the dying process and advocate for the patient’s end-of-life preferences, ensuring their decisions are respected and followed.
Vigil Presence: Offer companionship during the dying process and after-death care guidance, including working with funeral homes and notifying loved ones.
Grief Support: Provide ongoing grief support to families after their loved one has passed.
Requirements:
Training and certification by an EOLD organization
Previous experience with hospice care or end-of-life care.
Ability to work collaboratively with medical teams, caregivers, and interdisciplinary groups.
Strong emotional resilience and the ability to honor diverse cultural and spiritual beliefs.
Practical knowledge of after-death arrangements and logistics.
Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle (if applicable for in-person services).
Highly flexible schedule with the ability to meet client needs at varying times.
